A Foundation

Built on Success

As a fellow of The Orton-Gillingham Academy, I am qualified to train and supervise others in the Orton-Gillingham Approach as well as provide instruction for the dyslexic learner.

I enjoy helping struggling readers. I want them to feel brave in the face of adversity. I am asking them to do the very thing that previously had them feeling terrified. I tell my students with dyslexia that their brain works differently. If they make a mistake, it’s up to me to create a new way for them to understand a given concept. That alone helps to ease their anxious feelings.

As we progress, I provide opportunities for my students to experience success; the more success they feel, the more confident they become.

"Thank you for everything you have taught George over the last few years. You will forever be one of the most important teachers he has had, and we thank you for the difference you have made in his life... Because you taught him (using the Orton-Gillingham Approach) including the Latin prefixes, roots, and suffixes, he was accepted to the International School of Beijing which is not an easy feat."

-Rachael and David Beare, parents

"What a wonderful mentor you are. You are super supportive! It makes it a pleasure to participate in the practicum."

-Kathleen McCann, Reading Specialist at Oceanside Schools
