Educational Excellence
As a Fellow of the Orton-Gillingham Academy I observe newly trained teachers putting into practice what they’ve just learned. When they are working toward the Classroom Educator or Associate Level status of the Academy, it is a requirement to have their lessons evaluated. I critique their lessons, and I offer suggestions to help those teachers implement the Orton-Gillingham approach to fidelity. Teachers are grateful for the feedback.
This is vital to their training. Each time they are observed, the bar is raised slightly higher. By the time they have completed their last observed lesson, they have a solid foundation upon which to build. By going through this practicum, they’ve gained considerable experience honing their craft.
Over the years teachers have posed numerous questions during this process, which inspired me to write The Ultimate Guide. I wanted to provide a resource they could turn to time and again as a reminder of Orton-Gillingham principles and procedures.
